The Dispatches are the result of a long string of summers and years running too and from China. I've been detained by border officials, gotten lost on the Great Wall of China (how, do you ask? I wondered that myself. There are, after all, only two ways you can go on the thing...), been to all-night parties on the selfsame wall, seen the sunrise from Huangshan, ridden down a river through flooded canyons with a group of vacationing rubber workers and police officers, and sipped peanut milk with Daoist monks on top of Wudangshan.
I've been to a lot of places, and China is hands-down the weirdest - you can be walking around in the world of the twenty-first century , then turn around and find yourself in the dark ages. My most recent Dispatch is below. More will come as I upload them.
