I've written two novels, Walker in the Gyre and Sente and I am currently working on two more. You can read the back-of-paperback blurbs for each below, or read sample chapters by clicking on the links at your left.
Walker in the Gyre
When Walker Cambridge wrote a science fiction novel about the apocalypse, he didn't expect his main characters to show up at Sunday brunch, seeking vengeance against their creator for nearly destroying them all. Nobody ever does. But when he's rescued from his characters' clutches by a cloaked, sarcastic alien entity named Umber, Walker discovers there are more important things at stake than his own impending doom: Grandfather Blood, the entombed god whose slow-beating heart provides life to the multiverse, has been poisoned by the Acacii family, a criminal pantheon of immortal necromancers. The only cure for the poison that even now drives the universe mad may be the reunion of Matthew and Dusk, two long-estranged immortal lovers whose coming together might cause the end of everything anyway. And as if that wasn't enough, the legion of assassins on Walker's heels has got him wondering if he's writing the truth in his books, or creating it.
As he searches for a cup of decent coffee in an ending world, Walker is starting to understand why his characters hate him so much.
Sente
In the game of Go, a player has 'sente' if he or she can force the opposing player to make a particular move or die. After young Cayman MacRoche fled New York to escape his mentor, the head of a governmental think tank dedicated to predicting and controlling the future, he thought for a few blissful months that he had escaped his former life of manipulation and lies. But in Cayman's world there is no escape - you either have sente, or someone has sente against you.
When Cayman and the precise and beautiful former piano prodigy Roman Stewart are framed for the murder of Roman's old teacher, the renowned pianist Arthur Zellmann, they find their fates intertwined and their lives at risk as they race to clear their names. The chain of manipulation and conspiracy spirals outward from the initial simple, deadly act to link ambassadors, billionaire industrialists, assassins, and the Three Gorges Dam project in central China in an intricate web of threat and counter-threat, as Cayman comes to realize that the current catastrophe shares a deep, chilling connection with the events that first drove him from New York.
