Simulating the Universe

When I see the Most Accurate Computer Simulation of the Universe Ever….

…that is, the Bolshoi Simulation Visualization from UC-HPACC, I should probably be thinking about the Simulation Argument, or Berkeley Worlds, or the weird theory that we’re all inside a universe-simulating “brain” arisen out of random quantum fluctuations after the heat death of some ur-universe, or just rhapsodizing on the beauty of the cosmos.

It’s hard to hear most of that, though, over 13-year-old Max shouting up from my subconscious for someone to let me play Escape Velocity on this thing.  That’d be universal gamification I could get behind.

(I found this neat video through boingboing, to give credit where credit’s due.)
